Gifts for Rum Drinkers: A Christmas Gift Guide
Share
Gifting for a rum lover? Skip the novelty socks. These are five gifts they'll use, love, and appreciate.

1. A proper hip flask
Rum belongs outdoors as much as it does on the sofa. A good hip flask takes it up the hill, round the bonfire or onto the touchline on Boxing Day.
Go for stainless steel, a screw cap that can't go missing, and around 200ml. Big enough to share, small enough for a jacket pocket. Get it engraved as an extra special touch.

2. Glencairn glasses
Most rum gets poured into a tumbler and mixed. A Glencairn glass slows things down, especially when the cork comes off a bottle of sipping rum. The tulip shape funnels the aroma to your nose, so you taste what's actually in there.
They're made in East Kilbride and built for whisky, but a good sipping rum deserves the same treatment. Buy a pair. Rum is better shared.

3. Clear ice moulds
Small cubes melt fast and water your drink down. One big, clear cube melts slowly, keeps the rum cold and looks the business.
Clear ice moulds freeze from the top down, pushing air and cloudiness to the bottom. Out comes a cube that's clear as glass. Cheap, useful, and an easy stocking filler.

4. A cocktail mixing set
For the rum lover who likes to experiment. A decent set covers the basics: shaker, jigger, strainer, bar spoon and muddler. Everything they’ll need to start exploring the wide range of rum-based cocktails.
Tip: Start them on a rum sour. 50ml spiced rum, 25ml lemon juice, 15ml sugar syrup. Shake hard over ice, strain and serve.

5. Seòlta Hazelnut & Honey Spiced Rum
Saving the best for last (wink). Seòlta is Scotland's only hazelnut spiced rum. Hazelnut and honey up front, warming spice behind. It's non-chill-filtered, so it’s rich in warming, flavoursome mouth-feel.
Every bottle does some good too. 5% of our profits go to the Scottish Wildlife Trust to protect Scotland's red squirrels, and other projects.
Sip it neat from the Glencairn. Pour it over that clear cube. Shake it into a sour. Or fill the flask and step off the beaten track.
Give a bottle with a story
